Hi if I would like to upgrade SMC-3(PC) to SMC-4DL-PCI, Besides have to change card, cable and terminal. Meanwhile in terms of library / driver wise, what needs to be changed with software side? Writing whole motion control program? Or rather change some simple parameter?

SMC-3(PC) supports only SMC(98/PC) driver library and SMC-4DL-PCI only supports 　SMC(WDM) library, so you need to change the library. These libraries have different API set so you need to modify whole source codes.

Attached manual is for your reference to change the library from SMC(98/PC) to SMC(WDM).
